There’s even a wireless two-player game, classic Baby Mario Vs Baby Luigi (a rare appearance indeed) based around the walking aspect of the game complete with a Puo-style combo attack option. This requires only one cart and although it’s extremely basic it offers a great proving ground for seasoned players, able to throw up some surprises for the intuitive novice.
Summing up Catch! Touch! Yoshi! is harder than one might expect. It’s an annoying game in so many ways. Why did Nintendo not bother reworking the Yoshi’s Island sprites? Why did it abandon level design so completely? Why is the two-player game so rushed?
Perhaps the key question this game asks is: Why can’t we, and anyone exposed to Catch! Touch! Yoshi! put it down.

As with all game concepts that employ only a touch-panel, further iterations may be tiresome. As an inaugural offering however, is pure, pure gold. Or a big fat red coin.
