Street Fighter 4: Just Days Away?

Here’s hoping – Capcom announcement fuels fire.

It’s looking fairly likely that Capcom will announce Street Fighter 4 in a mere two days, with representatives in Japan confirming that a new fighting game will be shown on September 1st.

The chosen venue for the new game is the Amusement Machine Show, running for three days between the 1st and 3rd of September. Although it was not confirmed that Street Fighter 4 would be on show, a new game in the series would tally perfectly with snowballing expectations that the series is set for an imminent revival.

Those hoping for a playable debut will be sorely disappointed however, with Capcom confirming to SPOnG this morning that the new game would be shown in video format only.

As to whether this game will ever glimpse the light of day remains to be seen. Capcom Fighting All-Stars was canned after appalling play test feedback and nothing has been seen of Sammy Vs Capcom since it was announced over two years ago.

Of course, we’ll let you know exactly what has been announced as soon as the show doors open. Stay tuned and let us know your thoughts, feelings, or what you had for breakfast in the forum below.

I hope it's gonna be 2D still. There's something about 3D games that just doesn't come out when you play like with a 2D version.

Bring it on Capcom, just make sure you don't mess it up. I'd also like to see it reach all home formats if possible. Don't forget PS2 never got 3rd Strike outside of japan so sort it out.

Dante, Leon, and Wesker would make a nice secret characters too.

I've heard rumours it's another foray into 3D - lets just hope it's not another EX. If they're gonna do this they're gonna have to radically redesign Streetfighter to compete with the likes of Virtua Fighter and Soul Caliber. Here's hoping they'll finally do the series some justice (and if it's 2D it'd better be as good looking as Guilty Gear!).
