Resident Evil DS confirmed – first images

It might have been obvious but it’s still rather joyous

Okay, so we all knew it was happening, and here’s the proof – The Nintendo DS will be playing host to a Resident Evil game, with Capcom offering the first screens and details to Famitsu Weekly.

The game is set in the original Biohazard world, with PlayStation owners surely gleeful to see the return of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine et al.

Carrying the title Resident Evil: Deadly Silence (or Resident Evil: DS – Get it?) the game somewhat disappointingly seems to be a remake of the original game, albeit rendered in a fully three-dimensional game world…

No mention of a release date as yet, though expect more to be announced by Capcom in the coming weeks. For scans of Famitsu, check the forum below.

Well this has made my day. Even with those PSone/N64 graphics I'd still buy it because I love RE and I'm itching to kill zombies again.

Now you can do it anywhere, hope it includes all the chessy dialogue too.

Is there any date on this from my good people at Capcom?

Looks a bit weak, but hopefully that is because the images are blown up. When its on the DS, I hope it looks at least a bit better.

i think it looks good considering its not pre-rendered like the other versions

I'm not so sure about this one.
I don't want ANOTHER Resident Evil 1 remake. It's not going to add anything or outdo the GC version.

But this does look good. I'd like it more if it was more of a new game or maybe if it was a remake of Resi Evil 2.

It is nice to see Capcom support the DS with big franchises anyway. Viewtiful Joe looks superb and this could turn out very nice too depending on what they do with that other screen.

Well they have 1GB to play with on a DS card so they might have space to fill. So that's why it looks weird, because it's not pre-rendered. Should be interesting to see if Capcom leave it like that.

If they want more memory they could use a GBA cart to give it a kick and maybe make it smoother. I think Capcom might try some other REs on DS if this one works, perhaps that's why we are at RE1 again.

It's been a long time since I've played Resi 1, and being able to play it outside might make it a bit easier for me.
