Everyone knows that using MAME for enjoyment is wrong. It’s theft, don’t you know, and anyone even thinking about using MAME, even if they first typed 'old arcade games' into Google, finding Dave’s Classics back in 1998, should seek urgent help with their moral code from a member of the clergy.
Though as things pan out, Europeans won’t have to face this ethical pitfall, thanks to the European PSP being launched unable to corrupt the early adopters of Shoreditch, and avoiding bringing the videogames industry to its knees.
This is because Firmware Upgrade Version 2.0 will be pre-installed. And as every self-respecting SPOnG reader knows,
Version 2.0 means no homebrew antics on the PSP and therefore no MAME.
Which is a good thing, as MAME is evil. And its use might see a horde of riot police through your kicked-in door at five in the morning when you’re sprawled on your sheetless bed wearing only three day old pants.
Of course, the real good news is that we’ll enjoy the most stable PSP release, able to go online from day one with enhanced multimedia support. But no MAME. Which as we mentioned, is a good thing…
