In brief, rumour has reached SPOnG from Japan that talks of a revised PSP model about to be shown. Specifically, new colours will be made available alongside some kind of hardware augmentation.
As close handheld watchers will have noted, there have been several colours of PSP already shown. White, transparent blue and golden versions have whet the appetites of attendees to various shows over the past year, though to date, nothing has been announced. It is thought that the white Gran Turismo Mobile version will be made available alongside its UMD namesake.
Which brings us on to the question of a significant hardware revision. Speculation has been doing the rounds regarding a PSP hardware update for some time now though nothing has been confirmed by Sony. The firm did recently admit that it had uncounted issues with the square button on the portable, offering a recall to early adopters though this is more a manufacturing gremlin fix than a revision to hardware.
