In spite of various dark-stabbing games industry sites quoting high-ranking insiders, Bill Gates did not unveil the Xbox 2 (or Xenon) at this year’s CES.

Sony however, decided to steal the show, revealing a delicious launch line-up for the PSP, due to hit the US and Europe in March of this year.

Games confirmed for launch are:

Mercury - Ignition Entertainment
Dynasty Warriors - Koei
FIFA Soccer - Electronic Arts
MVP Baseball - Electronic Arts
NBA 2005 - 989 Sports
NBA Street - EA Sports
NFL Street 2 - EA Sports
Need For Speed Underground Rivals - Electronic Arts
Ridge Racer - Namco
Spider-Man 2 - Activision
Tiger Woods PGA Tour - EA Sports
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade - Sony Online Entertainment

Spring 2005:

Ape Escape - Sony Computer Entertainment
ATV Offroad Fury - Sony Computer Entertainment
Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix - Activision
Twisted Metal: Head-On - Sony Computer Entertainment
Wipeout Pure - Sony Computer Entertainment

Summer 2005:

Coded Arms - Konami
Hot Shots Golf - Sony Computer Entertainment

TBA 2005:

Darkstalkers Chronicle - Capcom
Metal Gear Acid - Konami

The above list is for the US, though if standard European localisation can be expedited, we should see the same on our shores in March.

Keep it locked for Euro PSP updates as they break.

Pretty nice mix of games. I have never played a GOOD sports game on a handheld yet , so I am excited.

Too bad there are aren't too many adventure or action games. Those are the ones I like the most :)

its pathetic how freakin many titles on that list end in a number... 11 of them are some kind of sports game (if we count racing and skateboarding). You think these genius would have the sense to at least throw together a conversion of ratchet and clank or sly cooper so they have soem kind of variety on there. It seems to me that most working adults dont have all that much freaking free time to spend on hand held gaming. i for one have to drive to and from work and anywhere else i go. my need for portable gaming is limited as is. if i want to watch movies on the go i would get a portable dvd player from wall mart for liek $80 that plays all of my freakin dvds!! and if i want an mp3 player i sure as hell wouldnt by one from sony that only takes memory sticks!! The target audience for portable games is never going to be adults and that is why nintendo has ruled the market so strongly for so long. Nintendo has a lock on the 5-12 year old gamers and that bleads up to 16-18 crowd in the hnad held market cause there is no other worth while alterative. The target market for this is 12-22(still counting in the college age people) they need to make cool games that make sense on a portable system.

and while im ranting(sorry about this)... sony need to not worry about any sort of retarded conectivity between their home and portable consoles... the miniscule number of peopel who have ever benefited from having a gba and a game cube linked together is so itty bitty that i cant even fathom why they bother including the potential. Especially when you consider that Legend of zelda the four swords and legend of zelda the wind waker where compeltly different games that happened to link up... ok not completly different but waaay more different than say ... gran turismo2 and gran turismo psp!! the only difference there being less features on the PSP version... maybe if i buy both copies i can download extra cars from my ps2 to a memory stick so i can use all the cars in the psp version that didnt fit on the UMD. Oh, and i certainly don't need a +$200 hand held radar screen for playing metalgear solid 3 so that $hit is just out of the question.

i woudl like to thank you in advance for pointing out my errors and stupidity in a nice constructive way and for not insulting my grammar/punctuation/spelling, cause i dont care.

Launch line-ups are notoriously crap. You'll get one, maybe two good games, the rest are there to fill the numbers.

I keep changing my mind between them as to which one I'll get. The PSP is so alluring, mainly because of it's looks and it's tech specs. But I love Nintendo games. I think I'm gonna wait until they've both been out in Europe for at least six months, so I can see the catalogue and get a feel about future releases.

Some hardcore gamer, eh. If only I had the dosh for both! (and no overdraft).

It's odd that I can play a form of every one of those games already on the PS2.
