Warren Spector Working on New Tomb Raider

Famed Deus Ex lead rejuvenating Lara?

Lara and Warren (possibly, we can't tell)
According to the constantly-turning Internet rumour mill, famed developer Warren Spector is currently over at Crystal Dynamics working on the new and as yet untitled Tomb Raider game.

As you may remember, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness suffered from perhaps the worst series of delays ever seen in a modern videogame, a situation compounded by a glitchy final build and press apathy.

The resulting situation is that Eidos shifted the development duties away from beleaguered Core Design over to the US-based Crystal Dynamics and, if reports prove correct, CD has signed Spector as a consultant for the project.

Another Tomb Raider. Woo bloody hoo.

Come on guys. If yer gonna churn out any more uninspired sequels, at least tell us what new (and by that I mean old) features we can expect.

What does this mean? Are you on drugs? Also, who is Warren Spector anyway? Some bloke who had something to do with Deus Ex? Great. This still leaves the biggest question unanswered:

Will he demand that Lara's tits are bigger and bounce more. Also, she should wear a skirt so that when she does that “pull up over the ledge” move, you could see her monkey!

Come on Spector! We want monkey!

Every game needs a monkey! Look at Monkey Ball, it would have been arse without the monkeys!

Anyway, what's wrong with Tomb Raider? Apart from it's not as good as Primal, of course! Pleanty of exploring and action and some story, this time you even got to play someone else. Problem was it wasn't Lara's long-lost (and hotter) sister, but some bloke. Who wants to look at some bloke's arse for ages?

And it didn't have any monkeys in it at all!

Who is Warren Spector? You nob! He is one of the greatest producers who ever lived. Famous for his "wall of sound" and for giving gud lurve to Ronnie (of the Ronnettes - who was actually a gurl despite the name). He also produced the Ramones "End of the Century" album.

Oh, hold on... that was Phil.

Thanks, man.

Anyway... isn't this forum supposed to be discussing Tomb Raider/Warren Spector?

If you guys wanna talk about blokes arses, please do, but shouldn't we start a new thread?

This story is essentially: "Eidos in PR coup - Signs big name in desperate attempt to add credibility to dead franchise!"

Pah! I should have been a news writer. This is easy. However, you must be careful! I heard that the PR manager at Eidos recently threatened to punch a magazine editor over a story. The future of the games industry indeed!

Yeah! But PLEASE don't make them look that those unrealistic titties in the DoA "games". They wobble like jelly on the spoon of a Parkinson's victim at a children's party.

Can we spank the monkey when she does that?

Primal? Are you on crack (no reference to monkeys please)

Primal would be like TR if you removed any eveidence of being able to explore levels to find ways to get to seemingly accessible areas, and the the ability to jump and stuff.

Primal was alright, but it wasn't tomb raider. and that GKar gargoyl thing was a right waste of space in
fights. The girl's tits bobbed nicely, though.

Too low, even for me! Laffs.

Shouldn't that be the other way around?

Anyway, Primal would be like TR if you took out the story, the character's getting along and made the enemies disappear after two seconds of being dead.

Primal had more imagination in the places than TR did in its whole plot (AoD that is) real world locations don't inspire like fantasy ones. Paris is fun and all, but compared to Volca or Wraith world (forgot name) it's boring.

That was the point! She was fighting character, he was other stuff (energy, climbing, strength) it makes for interesting games when characters have different strengths!

And his name was Scree, not "Gkar"!!!

Yes. I am a fool.

It's not really fair compare anything to AoD. The game was clearly torn from it's mother before it's prescribed gestational period. Infact, I swear I can still see its umbilical cord pulsing and weeping.

Primal did have a great plot, and I'm sure AoD would have been more solid had they not pull great chunks from tale in order to meet shareholder satisfaction.
My point was that Primal was comparitively linear in its exploratory aspect (pun intended). I always wanted to leap over that knee-high fence or climb beyond that minor crack in the wall.

Ha. We'll always have Paris - and the tedious loading between every street.

What? That her tits bounced nicely? Cool.

I *know*. But once, just once, I wished I could have taken control of him, climbed a wall and falled onto somebodies head.

>And his name was Scree, not "Gkar"!!!

Whatever. He still only has one arm.

Cool. Who is the PR Manager at Eidos? Stevie S? I bet I could have him.

All PR managers are soft, and southern, and descended from the French.

I'm hard, and northern, and descended from Vikings. Bring me your women, I will pillage them, bring me your oxen, I will rape them. Etc.

FFS Shuddup about Primal will you?

Last year saw so many great consloe games released - Primal was average at best.

And Tomb Raider has always been s**te - except when it was first out on PSX and Saturn, when the idea of watching some chick's polygonal arse chewing her gruds for hours was fairly novel.

When finding a discussion that compares two games, you say both are bad, but don't say what is better? This shows how clever you are.

No game is perfect, we were comparing two similar games, you should have compared both to, for eg, Prince of Persia for us to think you worth listening to.

Steve Starfish is a Yorkshireman, the best kind of Englishman, and descended from erm, a big hill in the north of England.

Then I unmake all my accusations, and salute him, for surely he is that greatest of all PR people, the northerner.

Sing Hosannah, sing Hosannah... Stevie Stravis is his name.
