Capcom of Japan will release no more arcade games, according to reports coming out of Japan this morning.
From what we can gather, all projects have been halted, including Capcom Fighting All Stars, a game believed to have been canned several days ago.
It is thought that over the next few weeks, all games that are currently in development will be assessed for feasibility of an immediate console conversion, and some will be saved, some scrapped.
The news comes as Capcom has had a torrid time in the coin-op business, much of which was self-inflicted. Capcom’s inability to supply Capcom Vs SNK 2 to pretty much any arcade operator outside of Japan, despite massive demand, was a massive blunder.
Unfortunately, Capcom’s European office was unable to throw any more light on the situation, but as it develops, we’ll keep you updated.
