Acclaim Entertainment has announced its president and chief operating officer, Edmond Sanctis, will resign on January 31, following the firm posting disastrous financials.
Acclaim also stated its intention to cut back on administrative staff by as much as 35%, as well as finding cost-reduction throughout its operations. Although the firm posted a healthy release schedule for the coming year, its losses amounted to just short of $14 million, compounded by a loss in credibility from misguided marketing campaigns.
Rod Cousens will take over as president. “While the year ahead will be challenging for our organization, we are taking the necessary steps to build a sound foundation to once again become a leader in our industry," Cousens. "We are committed to improving every facet of our organisation and building a strong worldwide portfolio of recognisable brands that supports our growth and return to profitability.”
However, rumour abounds this morning that Larry Sparks, having just left Infogrames, may be lined up for a senior role within Acclaim’s new-look board. Sparks is set to leave Infogrames in March.
