Kojima proves himself king of irony!
In some of the funniest news ever to wash up on our desks, comes the revelation that Hideo Kojima, the famed creator of the Metal Gear series, is currently beavering away at an all-new light-sensitive Game Boy Advance title.

We already reported several months ago that the master of stealth gaming (GoldenEye Bunker 2 level aside) had begun a portable game and fresh details have emerged overnight. From what we can gather, the game will be called either Everybody’s Sun, or Universal Sun.

Naturally, the game will be published by Konami. The most exciting revelation comes in the fact that, according to Japanese reports, the title will be heavily reliant on reading natural light levels as part of the integral game engine.

The game is heavily beset with vampires, well known for their dislike of sunlight, and, from what we can gather, the lighter it is when you play, the safer your character will be. Some may argue that, as the GBA can only be operated in perfect, bright conditions, this feature is somewhat useless.

However, the game is scheduled for the middle of next year, something that has sparked intense speculation that Everybody’s Sun/ Universal Sun will be a Game Boy Advance 2 title. This would mean that players could enjoy the game anywhere thanks to the new unit’s backlit screen. More importantly, gamers could progress through the RPG landscape in the daytime unopposed, and play in the dark at night.

The middle next year is thought to be the release date for Nintendo’s next-generation handheld, so perhaps this is a first glimpse of the machine’s third-party launch software?

As ever, you’ll be the first to know as soon as anything breaks.
