First Xbox One Indie Games Date Hinted
Early next year announced with a three month window
Chris Charla is the director of ID@Xbox at Microsoft and sometimes finds it difficult to answer questions. It's his job to get indie developers (whatever they are exactly) to publish titles on Xbox One, so when he does talk it does matter.
Xbox One - like PS4 - needs indie games for no other reason than indie games are interesting. Well, also that neither console seems to have any completely compelling launch titles. So, Chris is very important. He says in terms of the first ID@Xbox titles:
“I think it will be early in the New Year, in the first three months. I would say closer to the third month. In terms of how many games there will be, it’s hard to say, because they’re still in development.”
“Some developers started developing for Xbox One, others already had games in development and are working on Xbox One versions. I would say they’re at all stages of development, honestly.”
But, dear old Chris... he can't help but have his old problem with question answering when it comes to the Day One Parity policy issue that demands that devs publishing on PS4 also publish same-day on Xbox One.
"Unfortunately we really don’t comment on our publishing policies. Obviously we’ve heard the feedback from developers and we’re looking at all the way the ways we can to lower barriers for developers, but I really can’t comment on publishing policies. The reality is that developers should get in touch with us and talk."
