There's no stopping Microsoft in the US. The Xbox 360 remains the best-selling console in its domestic market, with sales figures for November totalling at 1.26 million units. That's led to company exec Aaron Greenberg to claim that the number is "nearly 2x all other consoles” and “Wii U+Wii combined”.

Don't feel too bad for the Wii U, though. The console sold 400,000 units in its first week on sale, and according to sales tracker NPD brought in "more dollars" than the Wii did at launch in 2006. This is owing to the higher price of the Wii U, though. "Comparing Wii sales from November 2011 to Wii sales combined with Wii U sales in November 2012, dollar sales increased by 76%," said spokesperson Liam Callahan.

But, while party poppers are going off at Microsoft and Nintendo HQ, it's altogether bleak news, with industry revenue dropping by 11 per cent. A bit of a critical hit, given the time of year and the deluge of titles that have been released as of late. Callahan doused some of the fire by adding that the drop represents the "smallest year-over-year decrease we have seen for dollar and unit sales so far this year."

Call of Duty: Black Ops II was, unsurprisingly, the best-selling game for the month of November in the States.
