Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the creator of Space Channel 5, Rez and Child of Eden, has stepped away from games production and moved to a completely different industry - teaching. The developer is now the Project Professor of the Graduate School of Media Design at Keio University, in Tokyo. He recently announced his intentions to give games development a back seat
during an interview at Tokyo Game Show last month. However, according to Keio Media Design, he might not be completely finished with the industry just yet.
Although Mizuguchi has retired from the board of directors at Q Entertainment, he will "continue to produce games and further expand his expertise in the field of media design and innovative content production." He will also continue to offer the studio advice.
If you manage to get Mizuguchi-san as a tutor at Keio, you can be guaranteed an interesting and fun time at the very least. At Develop in 2006,
he presented a game design lecture and likened the process to sponges and chewing gum.
