Prices for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS XL have started appearing on retailers across the web, sparking yet another race between competitors to sell the device the cheapest. Play initially listed a price tag of £179.99, but rivals Gamestop seems to have undercut it by offering the system for £167.97.ShopTo and HMV will be selling the 3DS XL for £179.84 and £179.99 respectively. Whichever way you look at it, Nintendo's larger-screened update will launch at a cheaper price point than the original did back in February 2011 -
specialists were asking for around £200 initially, until a slump in sales
gave supermarkets the opportunity to slash prices dramatically.
MCV is reporting that the trade price for the 3DS XL is around £146 which, when you add VAT, totals at about £167.50. So it's likely that we won't see many launch prices go lower than Gamestop's offer. Unless retailers don't like money.
