Bioware's Ray Muzyka has decided that the best way to deal with a problem such as someone leaking the script for your next big Sci-Fi game title is not to whine about it, but to do something excellent. In this case, it's using fan feedback on the leaked
Mass Effect 3 script to make the game better.
Although he's aware that "a small number of people are probably going to look at those spoilers in advance", which could then result in spoilers from idiots heading all over the Net, he's also aware that:
"In the big picture, some more stories are generated around it and more interest in the game."
Even more positively, he said prior to a BAFTA event in London that, "It's hard to say something like that having a positive benefit, but if it gets more people to check out Mass Effect 3 that would be a positive benefit."
So, while the leak was "disappointing" for the development team, the good doctor explained to Eurogamer that, "We listen to (our fans) on the forums, their feedback from stories. We're reading it all. If we can get ideas out of it that will make the game better, sure. We're not adverse to taking feedback. That's part of our core values, is humility. Any time we get a good idea from fans... they're our audience. They keep us in business."
If you're going to spin a story, we'd recommend taking this Bioware route. In which case no one ends up with a sour, lemony taste in their mouths.
