Kojima Productions is working on a new rendering engine. It's called the Fox Engine, and it does jungle environments quite well apparently. Today, Hideo Kojima showed off some more images of the engine's ability to render someone's mug.

Four images were posted on the developer's Twitter account, showing off a test character that looks like your generic gurning space warrior type. He has a scar on his head, and he's bald and everything.

For some reason, Kojima couldn't show any non-constipated pictures of this nameless character, but we suppose extreme expressions are the benchmark for any new technology. If he ain't gurnin', people ain't yearnin'.

Don't get excited about the character by the way. Kojima stressed that it was just a placeholder, and it's not in fact Metal Gear Solid's Volgin. Yes, because it looks exactly like him. Except, it doesn't.

Is this the look of sheer horror at how well the engine can render people?

That look spectacularly exactly like a slightly blurry guy with a weird shaped head. Literally stunning.

I can see this being applied to yet another filler big boss game where you play as him at age 60... and perhaps mgs:rising 2. i wish kojima had a firm direction for that franchise rather than just upscaled ps2 remakes and filler games that don't add anything to the established storyline.
