Hideo Kojima has been a very busy boy today, teasing details of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and the Metal Gear Solid HD Edition collection on his Twitter page. The 3DS remake of
Snake Eater will come with a photo camouflage feature, which allows players to take a snap of an object using the handheld's camera and have the pattern used for Snake's undercover wear. Kojima showed the feature off using photos of a Tower Records bag and a business card. Saucy.
As for
Metal Gear Solid HD Edition, Kojima revealed just what the collection would include around the world, as it appears there will be a difference in the Japanese and Western versions of the bundle. Japanese gamers will find HD remakes of
Metal Gear Solid 2,
Metal Gear Solid 3 and a download code for
Metal Gear Solid from PlayStation Network.
The International version swaps the PS1 title for an HD version of
Peace Walker, which means that you'll have to hunt down a copy of
Metal Gear Solid yourself to complete the set. Likewise, the HD version of
Peace Walker will be sold separately in Japan. Depending on the pricing, it seems that Western gamers may be better off, all things considered.
Both Japanese and International versions will include the
Subsistence edition of
Metal Gear Solid 3, meaning that the MSX versions of retro classics
Metal Gear and
Metal Gear 2 will also be included. The games are included in their original format and haven't been converted to HD, although Kojima noted that it was partly considered.
