UK Games industry not enjoying the spotlight

Massive losses cause the mainstream media vultures to circle

In an article in the Sunday Times, the UK games industry has been given quite a severe financial kicking.

The article points to the fact that at their peak, the seven biggest players in the UK market were worth a collective £1.8 billion. This valuation has nose-dived to £335 million, with these companies, including Eidos, Sci and Rage, losing a staggering collective £1.4 billion in just 18 months.

This being said, the end of the Internet gold rush caused huge losses in confidence throughout the technology sector. A knock-on for the games industry is to be expected.
