Braid creator Jonathan Blow has revealed more about his next project, titled The Witness. As he did with the Xbox Live Arcade cult hit, Blow will be taking design and development duties, alongside a small team to help it come to fruition. The Witness has been described as "an exploration-puzzle game on an uninhabited island," and on his
development blog Blow has added a bunch of concept artwork to detail his vision for the game. Blow writes that he aims to tackle the visuals in a different way to the shooter.
"For
The Witness, I wanted to develop a graphical style that values simplicity. It would be suited to mellower environments, with both indoor and outdoor settings," Blow muses. "Some kind of global illumination solution seemed like the right idea here."
Could we be seeing a first-person adventure game in the style of Myst? Who knows. What we do know is that Jon and his team will be working on
The Witness until "late 2011" for "whatever [platform] makes sense" at the time. Hard not to get excited with details like that, right?
