The reason that the PSP Go has had something else left out, aside from the UMD drive is confusing. The reason that the much called-for second analog stick was decided against was to stop games being made that could not be played by owners of the PSP-3000; which is also a relatively reasonable addition to the stable. That said, games are being made that have analogx2 functionality, but in button form.
Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida tells
GameInformer that, "...we are talking about the mid-life cycle of this platform, and the PSPgo is designed to be perfectly compatible with the PSP-3000 and all the games that released before that."
Okay, the sensible take is that Sony didn't want to exclude current PSP owners from new games developed for the PSP Go.
But wait; Yoshida also says that developers are making a 'quite a nice job" of mapping a second analog to button presses.
So, if developers can map to buttons for single-analog PSPs, why isn't there a second-analog for the Go? Cost?
