Nintendo's Fils-Aime: Nintendo Growth Dramatic
Last month, Nintendo issued a press release that indicated that the growth in sales of its platforms offset "the declines in other platforms."

Never one to be unquoteable, Nintendo of America president and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime has continued this theme by telling analysts that it's, "pretty clear that Nintendo is growing at a dramatically faster pace than the rest of the industry."

"If you backed out Nintendo’s growth, the industry would be in a very different place today", he jargonised ("backed out" in this case means 'removed').

Jargon aside, the actual fact of the matter is that Nintendo has outsold all comers. So, why has the company cut its sales forecast for 2009? It's not because people don't want the DS or DSi or Wii says Reggie. It's a decision made based on "reflecting conservatism based on overall difficult macroeconomic trends."

Yes. In short, (a) people are spending less in the shops. (b) The exchange rates for the Yen against the Euro and the US dollar are harsh.
