One of the undoubted highlights of E3 was getting to play Ecks vs. Sever, the Game Boy Advance FPS from handheld gaming gurus Crawfish.
Using fully 3D environments with sprite-based bad guys like the first Doom title from id, it looked absolutely stunning, running on the Game Bay Advance’s tiny screen.
The game played wonderfully, with the console’s shoulder buttons operating the much talked about strafing movements to perfection. The game also demonstrated its multiplayer capabilities alongside the main game. Ecks vs. Sever is very Doom-like both in presentation and general feel, a good thing we are sure you will agree.
Though no release date has yet been set, the game looks far enough along to hopefully make an appearance before Christmas 2001.
