Sony PSP TV Goes Live

Now you can watch TV... all...the...time

Can't get enough television? Need it even while you are out and about? Well fear no more as the Sony (Europe) PSP's GoView! service has now gone live in the UK and Eire. That news comes, of course, just hours before Microsoft's pre-E3 keynote. The service enables PSP owners with PCs to download content from Disney-ABC-ESPN Television, BBC Worldwide, Sony Pictures Television International, NBC Universal International Television Distribution, National Geographic and Sky Sports and transfer them to their handheld for later viewing.

The confirmation of the video-on-demand service comes two months after it was apparently trialled at the UEFA Champions League final.

Shows already announced include: Lost, Desperate Housewives, Doctor Who and Top Gear. You will also be able to watch English FA Premier League football-kicking games and "blockbuster movies". We would imagine this means Sony Movies.

Subscription packs are priced at "£5 (€7) for 1 pack, £8 (€11) for 2 packs and £10 (€14) for all three packs and users can trial all three packs free for a month. Rental TV is available from £1.50 (€2.00) per episode and a range of movies is available from £2.50 (€3.20) each."

The official website is here.

So, to ask an obvious question, is this stuff all like BBC iPlayer in that it will delete itself after a week or so? I've just looked over the whole site and can't tell. Can I really get the whole Alan Partridge series to keep for just £2.50?!
