French video game publisher - and Atari parent - Infogrames has confirmed that it made a formal bid to acquire troubled UK publisher Sci, which owns
Tomb Raider maker Eidos. "The SCi Board", however, "has declined, at this stage, to entertain Infogrames' offer".
The admission from Infogrames comes shortly
after Warner Brothers doubled its stake in SCi from 10 to 20%.
The French company, however, is not giving up, stating, "Infogrames has sufficient resources to satisfy the cash element of its indicative offer and has secured commitments in relation to the potential working capital requirements of the enlarged group. Importantly, Infogrames is in a position to move expeditiously with its proposal."
Basically, Infogrames is pushing hard with cash up-front.
