Microsoft has now shifted 11.6 million Xbox 360s worldwide and 24.3 million units of software – more than the Wii and PS3 have between them.
Microsoft isn't happy with that, though. Nope, Xbox Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) boss Chris Lewis wants more.
“There’s still a desire to get an overall bigger footprint here in EMEA, we continue to look at new countries to add on in the right time and in the right way, and we won’t do that until it makes sense. But we do of course have plans to expand”, Lewis told industry magazine
MCV.
That's not to say, of course, that Microsoft isn't happy with the 360's performance. “We’re very happy with the performance overall not only with the installed base of just under 12 million consoles in 37 countries, and we’re breaking records everywhere in terms of attach rate”, Lewis said. “We’re at a great value price point, there’s a line-up now that gives consumers choice and our Live experience remains second to none.”
Earlier this week SPOnG told you how, despite the 360's current lead, market research firm DFC expects the
360 to lag behind the Wii and the PS3 before this console generation is finished.
