Sony has no plans to cut the price of the PS3 in Europe or Asia following the US price cut, according to the company's president Ryoji Chubachi.
Chubachi clarified Sony's current stance with regards to pricing while Speaking to Bloomberg, saying Sony doesn't plan to cut the console's price "at this point." When pressed further, he said, "About the future, no comment".
Of course, earlier in the month Chubachi said that Sony had
no plans for a price cut "at present". Three days later, the
US price cut was announced, dropping the 60Gb configuration of the PS3 by $100. Clearly, this is a man for whom the present is very short-lived.
If Chubachi's comments do extend beyond the immediate present, however, they put the kibosh on
recent rumours that Sony will announce a PS3 price cut at Leipzig.
