Capcom puts the boot into the Xbox

Japanese Xbox prospects take another knock

Posted by Staff
General manager of Capcom Keiji Inafune, has openly criticised Microsoft’s strategy for the Xbox.

“Microsoft should have talked more with Japanese game development houses. Japanese videogame developers cannot afford to invest aggressively in making Xbox games because Microsoft has yet to show its specific intentions, such as what age demographic it is targeting."

The news is likely to come as a blow to Microsoft. The company has gone to great lengths to ensure that the Xbox is seen as a “games first” piece of hardware. It seems that Mr Gates will have to say something special at the Tokyo Game Show if he is to ward off the feeling in Japan that the Xbox is just another 3DO.
