Gameplay Studios has released some screens of a 3D shoot-em-up game it has in development. It will be called Evo.
The game looks graphically on a par with the 3D Game Boy Advance demos being exhibited by Crawfish, doubling the number of handheld developers pushing the dimensional boundaries.
Evo has been described as a space shooter with RPG elements, in a similar vein to the 8-Bit classic Elite. Your ship will change as you progress through the levels, indicating that this is going to be a little more than a Starfox clone.
It’s looking a safe bet that the Game Boy Advance will evolve into something a little beyond a trumped up portable SNES. As developers have more time fiddling with the console’s dev kit, the results are looking promising. Imagine what you might be playing in a few years.
