But CEO, Trip Hawkins, is backing the company one hundred percent, predictably blaming the turbulent hardware market for the company’s losses. Strangely, Hawkins blames shortages of the recently launched PlayStation 2, despite 3DO having released no product for the platform. Planned reductions in N64 development is also considered to be a prime factor.

The unfortunate turn of events for 3DO should not affect scheduled developments. Currently their focus is aimed at PlayStation 2 releases, which include Warriors of Might and Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic, as well as the first two Army Men titles, due for release in March. The company is now leaving ‘last generation’ platforms behind and is currently in discussions with Nintendo and Microsoft about developing for GameCube and Xbox.
