Ignition Entertainment announce Samurai Shodown V for Europe.

One of the first fighting games to let gamers battle each other with weapons, the Samurai Shodown series has long been known for its innovative gameplay and authentic anime stylisation. This, the fifth instalment in one of SNK's best loved series, is set for a full-scale sword assault on the European public. Ignition Entertainment would like to announce Samurai Shodown V for the PS2 and Xbox (with the Xbox version having full Live functionality). Arriving in September 2005, it will carry a suggested retail price of 19.99.

The Samurai Shodown series has also been known for its willingness to tinker with its unique fighting system, and has resulted in a number of changes over the years. This instalment is no different, and offers several new features for the dedicated player. Characters can meditate in the heat of battle to affect their stats, and even slow down time for their opponent. Old faithfuls return, and talented gamers can throw their weapons down and fight unarmed.

"Fans of SNK's fighting games have been clamouring for an update to the Samurai Shodown series", says Peter Rollinson, Product Manager, Ignition Entertainment. "They feel very different to the King of Fighters games and offer a completely different style of gameplay to other 2D fighters. Samurai Shodown V is the most complete and refined iteration yet."
