Konami of Europe has announced that the packaging of its forthcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 4 title will feature Italy striker Francesco Totti, France striker Thierry Henry, and Pierluigi Collina – by far the most respected official in world football.
Scheduled for release on PlayStation 2 in October, with PC-DVD and Xbox versions to follow in November, Pro Evolution Soccer 4 is the latest installment of Konami’s world renowned football simulation. Featuring unrivalled close control, one-touch play and a level skill far above that of rival titles, the new release is widely regarded as the closest simulation of the beautiful game.
As befits the world’s greatest football game, Konami of Europe has pulled out all the stops to ensure top-level signings to grace the packaging. Francesco Totti is one of the most prolific strikers in Serie A. Having made his debut for home team AS Roma as a 16 year-old, the Italian has gone from strength to strength, making his international debut in 1998 and has been an ever-present for both AS Roma and Italy ever since.
Thierry Henry is an equally prodigious talent and the French international and his club’s legend is currently riding high as both European and English Golden Boot winner, and was a pivotal part of his club’s unbeaten run in the 2003/2004 Premiership-winning season.
Pierluigi Collina’s association with Konami began when the respected official appeared on the packaging of last year’s highly successful Pro Evolution Soccer 3. Named by many international players as the most respected match official, Collina has been awarded top refereeing awards on some occasions, and has presided over Europe and World prestigious games.
Totti, Henry and Collina will appear on all Pro Evolution Soccer 4 packaging and promotional materials, and further demonstrates Konami of Europe’s intention to extend the game’s impressive reputation. “We have made a number of key advances with Pro Evolution Soccer 4,” said Martin Schneider, European Marketing & PR Director for Konami of Europe. “This includes the addition of clubs from officially license leagues and a wealth of new gameplay features.”
“By signing talent such as Francesco Totti, Thierry Henry and Pierluigi Collina – three of football’s most famous stars – to appear on the packaging, we are illustrating our commitment to ensuring that Pro Evolution Soccer 4 continues to be the definitive football title, and that its quality is associated with that of the game’s biggest names.”
