French development outfit Nadeo – responsible for the amazing PC racer 'TrackMania' – has been rewarded for its original approach to game design by Develop Magazine, which has nominated the studio for an 'Innovation Award' for its forthcoming Industry Excellence Awards.

Since its release back in November 2003, TrackMania has won the hearts of everyone who has played it, generating enormous following both online and off. Its imaginative take on the racing genre results in some of the most spectacular, stomach-in-mouth racing seen on any format. Players can race solo or against an almost limitless number of other racers no matter what their configuration, thanks to the game's minimal bandwidth requirement. The game's track design editor – which gives players the tools to quickly and easily design an almost infinite variety of rollercoaster courses – completes a package that's genuinely second-to-none.

"TrackMania is a real labour of love for everyone here at Nadeo," says Florent Castelnerac, Development Director, Nadeo, "which is why this kind of attention is really humbling. During development, a number of publishers insisted it was a concept that would not work, and we're delighted that Focus Home Interactive and Digital Jesters saw the potential of the game, and have helped us make TrackMania the phenomenon it is."

"This is brilliant news for Nadeo and everyone involved with TrackMania," adds Leo Zullo, Marketing Director, Digital Jesters, UK publisher of TrackMania. "We've worked really hard with our partner Focus Home Interactive, to get the game into as many hands as possible, and are genuinely thrilled that the amazing team at Nadeo, are being recognised for their vision."

TrackMania and TrackMania: Power-Up! Are available now. TrackMania Sunrise was recently announced, and is currently in development. The Develop Industry Excellence Awards will be held at The Royal Garden Hotel on August 31st 2004.
