Digital Jesters launch TrackMania online community – playable code available online soon.
Digital Jesters is preparing for the imminent launch of its blistering PC CD-ROM racer TrackMania with the launch of the game's very own community Website.
Located at www.TrackManiaGame.com, the online resource will be the port of call for those keen to know more about the genre-busting racing game. Screens and desktop themes are online now – and the forums are open for those eager to discuss track-building theory. But most importantly, the Website will be the only place for users to download the demo – which is due online on the 1st November.
TrackMania is an astonishing mix of genres, combining high-speed, stomach-churning races around manic, gravity-defying courses – with a single-player puzzle mode which taxes speed of thought as much as reactions. Think Stunt Car Racer mixed with WipEout with a bit of PipeMania thrown in, and you have some idea of the joy that is Nadeo's brilliant new release.
The Website will form the central hub for the game's many multiplayer modes, which allow users to create an infinite number of courses to share with mates and the world. Brilliantly, these courses are defined using a sophisticated routine which truncates the data into bite-sized chunks; typically, these courses – no matter how wild they are – will form no more than 20k of data. And as the game embraces dial-up multiplayer as well as broadband, TrackMania is a game which can be enjoyed by anyone with an Internet connection.
