Deep Red Games Launches Real Sports Brand.

Cutting-edge Britsoft developer Deep Red is breathing new life into the competitive (and lucrative) management genre of sports titles with the launch of its Real Sports brand.

Already two months into production, the first game in the Real Sports franchise will be Real Football: "We will be going head to head with the current football management games in the market, and showing them how it should really be done," enthused Managing Director Kevin Buckner.

"Don't get me wrong, we are huge fans of the games currently on the market. But we think that gamers have been there, done that and are now ready for a bit more from a management game than the old-fashioned spreadsheet approach. Instead, we're going to give players a truly immersive football world, a world that will involve them at every level of the beautiful game. Every action will have a consequence. Real Football will require a bit more thinking, but will ultimately be more rewarding."

Real Football is currently being developed for PC with a major online element, though Deep Red has not ruled out the possibility of developing the game for next generation consoles.

Deep Red is currently in talks with publishers to sign the game.

Deep Red Games was launched in May 1998 by Clive Robert and Kevin Buckner, founders of Hasbro Interactive. Based in Milton Keynes, Deep Red has a team of nearly 40 and is currently working on Monopoly Tycoon for Hasbro Interactive (due for release in November on PC) and Thunderbirds for Sci (PC and PS2, Q4 2001). Deep Red also developed Risk 2, which was released in March 2000 to critical acclaim.
