3dfx Interactive is pleased to announce that the Voodoo5 5500 AGP graphics accelerator card goes on sale in the UK today. Backed by 3dfx's biggest ever European advertising and marketing campaign, the Voodoo5 5500 is the first of 3dfx's announced boards based on the VSA-100 processor, and demonstrates 3dfx's flagship Full-Scene Anti-Aliasing and T-Buffer technologies. With two VSA-100 chips onboard and 64MB memory, the Voodoo5 5500 is targeted firmly at the serious gamer and high-end graphics user at UKP249 inclusive of VAT.

Previews and early reviews of the Voodoo5 5500 have been extremely complimentary with many titles positioning the 5500 as one of the best graphics cards currently available. After only 4 weeks of circulating review boards, the 5500 has picked up 2 European magazine awards. Gamespot UK remarked that the cinematic effects achievable with Voodoo5, such as depth of field blur are "taking game realism that one step further."
The Voodoo5 5500 package comes complete with a games sampler CD-ROM supplied by Gameplay.com. As well as the games, the CD will also contain a WinDVD demo from Intervideo.
