Gamers who buy a new Voodoo graphics card through one of the UK's major retailers in October and November may find themselves torn between staying in and enjoying the challenge of their favourite 3D games, or going to see one of the latest cinema blockbusters, as a result of a unique collaboration between 3dfx and the UCI cinema chain.
Anyone purchasing a Voodoo4 or Voodoo5 between now and November 20 in selected stores will find details of a special 'two for one' cinema ticket offer packaged with the card. Buyers can redeem no fewer than six vouchers to be used to gain free entry to UCI cinemas across the UK when accompanied by a paying adult. That's up to six free trips to the movies, courtesy of 3dfx.
"In the past, graphics card manufacturers have been quite unimaginative when it comes to offering consumer sales incentives, so we are very pleased to have broken the mould by working with the team at UCI," says Peter Griffin, 3dfx's Northern European Marketing Manager. "We've designed the scheme to be as flexible and easy to use as possible – and we're sure it's an idea that our customers will appreciate."
The special Voodoo4 and Voodoo5 boxes containing the cinema offer will be sold through Dixons, PC World, Tempo, Electronics Boutique and Game stores until November 20. The vouchers can be used in cinemas until the end of June next year.
There are 38 UCI cinemas spread throughout the UK, where customers taking up the two-for-one offer can use their free tickets. The free tickets can only be used when accompanying a fee-paying adult.
