eJay, one of the world's leading providers of music software, has teamed up with Diesel to act as judging partner in the Diesel U-Music Awards 2003.
Diesel U-Music, now in its third year, is designed to support the grassroots of UK music, encouraging new talents across a range of styles. The event is essentially a response to major labels' A&R policies, endorsing short-lived pop careers while ignoring musical creativity and long-term artist development. Indeed, the event has now grown to embrace seven countries, each with their own U-Music mandate to search for the most interesting and innovative music across the world.
This year's UK entries will be divided into four categories: dance, electronic, urban and rock. eJay will be judging the dance category alongside Moving Shadow records, Breakin Point magazine and Trust the DJ. Furthermore, eJay is contributing a unique prize - a winning artist in the dance category will have the chance to appear as a featured artist on a brand new 2003 eJay music creation title! They will be used to endorse the product accordingly.
Cate Swift, Brand Manager for eJay commented: "We at eJay are committed to promoting up-and-coming artists who show genuine innovation and creativity. Our software is all about encouraging people to make their own dance music so we are thrilled to be associated with the U-Music Awards. Supporting new musical talent is key to eJay."
Winners from previous years include DJ Skully, the Diesel U-Music Best Scratch DJ for 2002. Following his U-Music success, Skully went on to become the UK DMC champion in July. In addition, Skully won an award for best UK Hip Hop DJ and has secured a weekly radio show on Kiss 100.
