3dfx Interactive has announced prices for its eagerly-awaited next generation Voodoo cards in the UK. The 64Mb, dual chip Voodoo5 5500, aimed at the hardcore gamer, will cost just UKP249, and will include a selection of fully playable demos
from Gameplay.com. The lower priced Voodoo4 4500 will cost just UKP149, putting it well within the range of the high street consumer.

"Furthermore, the extra features of the Voodoo5 5500, such as the full-scene anti-aliasing and T-buffer technology, make this the only true value-for-money option for the serious gamer."
The Voodoo5 5500 AGP incorporates two VSA-100 processors, which combine to
render over 667 Megatexels per second to create extraordinarily vivid 3D worlds in 32-bit colour. With 64Mb graphic memory, the Voodoo5 5500 boasts real-time full-scene hardware anti-aliasing, and T-buffer digital cinematic effects for an
unparalleled gaming experience. The Voodoo5 5500 will also be available in a PCI version.
The Voodoo 4 4500 is based on the VSA-100 processor, with a 3D engine capable of rendering over 333 Megatexels per second, and 350MHz RAMDAC for 2D resolutions
as high as 2048 x 1536. The Voodoo4 4500, featuring 32Mb of graphic memory, will be available in both PCI and AGP versions, and has full support for all major APIs including DirectX, Glide, and OpenGL.
The Voodoo5 5500 will include a games sampler CD-ROM supplied by Gameplay.com in its packaging. As well as the games, the CD will also contain a WinDVD demo from
Intervideo.
