Players of Ubi Soft's popular Rainbow Six games will need none of their training or experience to infiltrate the blueyonder multiplayer gaming network (blueyonder mpg) as, for a limited time only, the service's doors are being thrown open to anyone who wants to play the all-new demo of Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, which is released to the public today.
blueyonder mpg has joined forces with Ubi Soft to offer completely 'credit free' use of the full range of the service's facilities to anyone who installs and downloads the new multiplayer demo. For a period of one week from the launch of the demo (November 14 to November 21, 2002), Raven Shield players will be able to book and use their own servers, set up exactly as they want them, entirely free of charge. These facilities are normally only available to subscribers to the service.
"We know from our forums that there is already a healthy appetite amongst the existing multiplayer gaming community for Raven Shield," says Murray Hume, business manager for blueyonder mpg. "That said, we believe that the quality of this demo combined with the ease of access to our servers will also introduce a whole new audience to the joys of multiplayer gaming."
"This is a great opportunity for gamers to experience for free how great Raven Shield is as a multi-player game. Playing it against mates on blueyonder's broadband gaming service will let everyone experience how multi-player games should be played." added Jim Hill, senior product manager at Ubi Soft Entertainment.
Raven Shield is the sequel to Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, awarded '2000 Action Game Of The Year', and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, '1999 Action Game Of The Year'. When the full game is released in February 2003, it will be the third in the Rainbow Six line, which has sold more than seven million copies worldwide.
The PC multiplayer demo uses state-of-the-art technology provided by the next-generation Unreal engine and features two maps (including a new version of the original Rainbow Six all time favourite City Street Large multiplayer map), 15 weapons, many weapons gadgets and two multiplayer modes – survival and team survival.
