AGOURA HILLS, CA - September 6, 2001 – DTS, a leader in multichannel digital audio, announced today that it has licensed its real-time surround sound technology, DTS Interactive, to Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS), for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system version of EA games. NHL® 2002, is set to be released in late Sept. and is the world's first game to include real-time interactive surround sound during game-play. DTS has also officially launched its Software Developers Kit (SDK) for DTS Interactive, allowing game developers to quickly and effectively encode surround sound for action-packed PlayStation 2 games. The SDK will be available through DTS and more information is available online at www.dtsonline.com.

"DTS is proud to be the first company to enable game developers to employ realistic, immersive audio quality to match the amazing video quality of home video games from leading edge companies like EA," said Jon Kirchner, DTS president and COO. "It has been our pleasure to work with EA, who shares the vision that interactive multichannel audio is the natural progression in gaming technology."

"As video games became a mainstream component to home theater entertainment we saw the opportunity to significantly raise the value of the gameplay audio experience, by incorporating surround sound," said Murray Allen, Vice President, Post Production at Electronic Arts. "We turned to DTS to provide the technology behind the enhanced audio because we knew that they would deliver the best quality surround sound."

The DTS SDK allows the players to be fully immersed for the first time in the gaming experience with realistic surround sound. EA is the first licensee to incorporate the DTS SDK into a PlayStation 2 console game. NHL Hockey 2002 is the first game to use the kit to create its enhanced audio offerings. EA's second game release featuring DTS Interactive surround sound technology, SSX Tricky, will be released later this fall and more titles will follow.

Gaming enthusiasts can now enjoy enhanced audio realism on games featuring DTS Interactive by connecting their PlayStation 2 console to any home theater system equipped with a DTS decoder and selecting the DTS option from the game's audio menu. DTS decoders are built into virtually every home theater A/V receiver today. Many major consumer electronics manufacturers have added a digital input to the front of their A/V receivers to make connecting a gaming console to the home theater system easier.
