Biohazard for GameCube (known in Europe and the United States as Resident Evil) will be a totally new game with only core essences remaining from the original game of the same name. Biohazard for GameCube is scheduled to release in Japan in the spring of 2002. European and US release dates were not announced.

Biohazard left its mark in history when it originally released in March 1996 and established the Survival Horror genre. Since then, the original Biohazard has sold more than 3.4 million units worldwide and more than 18 million units of the entire Biohazard series have been sold. Biohazard for GameCube is directed by Shinji Mikami, the producer and creator of the entire Biohazard series. Mikami plans to deliver Biohazard with a new fear that no one has ever experienced.
