NVIDIA Corporation won two of the hardware awards at this year's ECTS at ExCeL, London. The company’s Geforce 3 graphics processing unit (GPU) won both the Best PC Hardware award, and the PC Format Best New Kit award, both of which were presented in a ceremony held on the show floor on Monday, September 3.
Voted for by visitors to this year’s ECTS, the award for Best New Hardware is one of the most coveted of all categories. NVIDIA’s Geforce 3 chipset has consistently proved itself the fastest and most powerful available since its launch earlier this year, making it the first choice for graphic cards manufacturers worldwide.
Accepting the award on behalf of NVIDIA, Alain Tiquet, marketing director for NVIDIA Europe, said: “We are deeply honoured to have won this trophy. 3D graphics are transforming the PC market and with Geforce 3 as its flagship product, NVIDIA is well-placed to push back the technological frontiers.”
If anything, the editors and writers of PC Format are probably even harder to please when it comes to judging hardware. However, they too voted for Geforce 3, naming it the Best New Kit of 2001. “This is a ringing endorsement of our position as the UK’s market leader for 3D graphics,” said Alain Tiquet.
