THQ Inc. and Funatics Development GmbH today announced a multi-territory publishing agreement providing THQ the worldwide rights to the forthcoming PC title Zanzarah: The Hidden Portal.
As well as English speaking territories, Zanzarah is set to be localised across key European territories, including Germany, France and will also be distributed in Spain, Italy and Asia Pacific. The game is scheduled to be released Q1 2002.
Zanzarah is a third-person 3D action adventure where the protagonist, controlled by the player, is a teenage heroine approaching adulthood. Going about her monotonous, humdrum day-to-day life she comes across a package containing a rune stone that takes her on a fantastical journey to the magical fairy wonderland of Zanzarah. Zanzarah combines elements seen in fantasy adventures and virtual pet/fighting games to form a compelling new gameplay experience. Initially armed with single fairy cohort, you must search, befriend, nurture, train and ultimately commit your fairies to challenging battles with the aim to unlock barriers between the real and mythical worlds. In addition Zanzarah incorporates diverse multiplayer set-up with a numerous styles of online battles.
"We are thrilled to add Zanzarah: The Hidden Portal to our PC portfolio," said Tim Walsh, Senior Vice President, International Publishing. "Funatics has a strong heritage in quality PC games development and creativity, talents which are clearly apparent in this innovative title."
