DO Europe has announced the release date of Army Men Air Attack: Blade's Revenge for PS2 as 8th June 2001.

Army Men Air Attack: Blade’s Revenge is a fast and furious game of toy helicopter-based combat combining the trigger-twitching action of shooter-style gameplay with more strategic environment interaction in the Army Men universe.

Continuing the classic struggle between the Green and Tan armies, the heroic Captain Blade and his Alpha Wolf Battalion once again take to the skies with new missions, deeper gameplay, stunning cinematics and more character interaction than ever before.

Army Men Air Attack: Blade’s Revenge has 26 new missions set in over ten unique and diverse environments including a Japanese Garden, the Wild West, the Flower Bed and the Garden. Seven of these are ‘Real World’ environments, where the figures are two and a half inches tall and interact with oversized objects in oversized settings. Ten of these environments have also been specially designed for the five multi-player modes that include co-operative and head-to-head play. There are multiple levels of difficulty to enhance the replayability of each mission.

The mission objectives in Army Men Air Attack: Blade’s Revenge place more emphasis on the storyline with cut scenes, in-game voice-overs and film quality animation. Character interaction now adds an extra dimension to the gameplay, as communication with the co-pilots is now possible via a pop-up window.

The in-game physics have been improved and this is clearly evident in the way that the helicopters, of which there are now five, handle. Each type of helicopter has its own unique abilities, with extra capabilities that can be unlocked via the new ‘plastic collection’ system. These improvements even allow for environmental factors, such as wind drag and winch drag (when an object is being towed). This unique winch feature enables players to use objects like a wrecking ball or throw items at enemies, as well as lifting, moving and dropping objects. The pyrotechnic-based weapons include bottle rockets, Roman candles and cherry bombs and really show off the new particle special effects system.

Army Men Air Attack: Blade’s Revenge will see new characters added to the Army Men universe, such as Baron von Beige and Hooligan. There are also ‘boss’ characters to fight and more toy characters with which to battle and interact, making Army Men Air Attack: Blade’s Revenge the most immersive and exciting Army Men experience so far.
