THQ Inc. and JAKKS Pacific, Inc. today announced that the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has named WWF No Mercy as a finalist in the Fourth Annual Interactive Achievement Awards. The AIAS honors excellence and innovation in interactive computer, console, and internet games and entertainment.

This highly successful World Wrestling Federation title for the Nintendo 64 is a finalist in three separate categories: Console Fighting Game of the Year, Console Game of the Year, and Game of the Year 2001. Released in November of 2000, WWF No Mercy has already sold well over 800,000 units at retail in North America.

“We’re thrilled with the accolades that have been bestowed upon the video games of the World Wrestling Federation franchise,” stated Brian Farrell, president and CEO, THQ. “It’s a testament to all the hard work and dedication put forth by so many in the creation of these quality titles.”

“Both the gaming industry and WWF fans have shown incredible support for all of the WWF titles brought to market from JAKKS and THQ,” said Stephen Berman, president and COO, JAKKS Pacific, Inc. “We are glad that AIAS has recognized WWF No Mercy as deserving of this nomination.”
