Microsoft has announced that the Links 2001 Course Converter is now available for download from the game's official site at http://www.microsoft.com/games/links2001/. The Course Converter lets players convert up to 36 Links LS and Microsoft Golf 2001 courses for play in Links 2001.

With the Links 2001 Course Converter, Links 2001 players can enjoy 36 classic Links LS courses, such as Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, and Innisbrook. Players can either download all 36 course kernel files and the Course Converter in a single download, or pick and choose specific courses from the comprehensive listing on the Links 2001 download page (http://www.microsoft.com/games/links2001/downloads.asp). To take advantage of the Course Converter and course kernel downloads, gamers must own the original Links LS (.crx file format) or Microsoft Golf 2001 courses. And, players must either have these courses installed on their computer or use the course CD-ROM in order to utilize the Course Converter.

Players who don't already have Links LS classic courses are encouraged to purchase Links LS Classic at retail. For those players that have Links 2001, adding Links LS Classic to their collection greatly expands their course library. Links LS Classic, which includes 21 Links LS courses, is currently available at major software retailers.

The most significant upgrade to the Links series in over a decade, Links 2001 features an entirely new rendering engine that delivers unprecedented ball physics and graphics, as well as the Arnold Palmer Course Designer, which allows PC golfers to re-create their home courses with the same tools used by the Links 2001 team. Links 2001 offers gamers new tour players, as well as new golfer animations and personalities, customizable club distances that allow for an even more accurate re-creation of a player's actual game, and faster and easier online play. Additionally, the long-awaited Arnold Palmer Course Designer (APCD) makes its debut in Links 2001. The APCD provides users with the power and versatility to accurately recreate courses in a powerful, real-time 3D system. Players can tweak every inch of fairway with the APCD and create tunnels and arches with full control over each point on the course.
