Northamptonshire, UK. 12th October 2006 - Oxygen Interactive today released details of the star voices signed up for its highly anticipated PDC World Championship Darts video game. Scheduled for release at Christmas, Oxygen Interactive is pleased to announce, that the ‘Voices of Darts’, Sid Waddell and scorer, Russ Bray will provide the game’s commentary.
With the backing of the sport’s most recognised champions, Oxygen Interactive wanted to further the realism of the game and stay true to the sport’s roots by securing the best possible audio experience for its unrivalled release. This has been achieved, with the signing of Waddell and Bray.
During the growth of professional darts from pub game to arena sport in the last twenty-five years, its success and popularity as a TV sport has been further championed by that vital ingredient - a recognisable voice. Darts boasts Sid Waddell – “The Geordie Lip”.
Sid is darts - his style is unique, his voice unforgettable, his sayings legendary, and now his genius will be captured forever through the medium of computer and videogames.
He is joined by scorer, Russ Bray; the gravel-voiced referee famous for his unmistakeable calling of the celebrated maximum darts score ‘180’. Bray called his first World Championship in 1997 and was fortunate enough to call the first live nine-darter ever seen on Sky Sports when Phil Taylor accomplished the feat against Chris Mason at the World Matchplay in July 2002.
Together, Waddell and Bray combine to create the most authentic computer game commentary to date. For Darts fans, they add the icing to the cake of realism, and for sports fans and gamers they will provide an unforgettable experience that will bring a smile to the face.
Set for release alongside the staging of the 2007 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, the game aims to capture the hearts of the countless loyal fans of the Christmas period’s biggest sporting event.
Offering players the thrill of an ‘as seen on TV’ darts experience, PDC World Championship Darts challenges players to take on the champions and bring victory home.
PDC World Championship Darts is due for release December 1, 2006.
