Atari today announced the forthcoming release of the pirate fighting anime game One Piece: Grand Adventure for PlayStation®2 from BANDAI NAMCO Games. Based on One Piece, the popular and internationally renowned Japanese anime and manga, One Piece: Grand Adventure is the sequel to One Piece: Grand Battle released in 2005. Published by NAMCO BANDAI Games and distributed in Europe by Atari, One Piece: Grand Adventure for PlayStation 2 is scheduled for European release at Christmas 2006.
In One Piece: Grand Adventure players again take on the role of Monkey D. Luffy in his quest to recruit a fearless crew and discover the whereabouts of One Piece, the legendary treasure of The Pirate King Gold Roger. To prove their worth and to acquire shipmates, players sail from port to port battling characters from the One Piece world, demonstrating they have the skills to lead them on daring pirate adventures. Once recruited, players will be able to take any of their shipmates into battle, upgrade them, or select them as trusty companions through the newly added Support Character System to help in the fight against enemies old and new.
The engrossing Adventure Mode, with its additional mini-game side quests, is enhanced with a wide range of gameplay variations including one-on-one battles, mob battles, sports, shooting and races all in the colourful tradition of One Piece. To really spice up the battles, not only has the Support Character System been added, but the all new Accel-Heat System lets players pull off amazing special attacks taken straight from the anime.
