John first started his career in the video game industry working for Zeppelin Games in 1991 as a programmer. In 1994 John started working at Imagitec Design programming games like Raiden and Evolution. Imagitec was later acquired by Gremlin Interactive. John starting working for Runecraft in 1999 where he is currently employed.

John Carlylw 's first video game work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1990 title, "International 3D Tennis" (Spectrum 48K) as Lead Programmer.
John's most recent involvement was as Lead Programmer on the 2001 release "Grand Theft Auto London" (PlayStation).
