Microsoft has cheekily appealed to gamers hopelessly tied to the Xbox's Gamerscore ecosystem, by offering Achievements for pre-ordering the upcoming Xbox One.
Xbox 360 users who click through an advert on their console's dashboard and successfully pre-order the next-gen system will unlock a 0G Achievement. Good Lord. This isn't even the first Achievement tied to the new platform - another is included for consumers who purchase the Day One Edition of the Xbox One.
The Pre-Order Achievement, according to Microsoft, rewards its loyal fanbase for "ensur[ing] that the most powerful console ever made will be delivered to you on day one." So, not just a cynical way of trying to drum up more sales, then. Cool.
